As an infrastructure company in the field of cold chain for food products, C&F establishes facilities and operations which run even in the event of emergencies and disasters.

Installing emergency equipment

C&F installs private power generators and in-house fueling stations in main distribution centers to continue operations in the event of an emergency.

Private power generators help to maintain facility operations during power outages.

As for in-house fueling stations, C&F stores enough amount of fuel to run trucks for at least 5 days in case of a disaster.

Server and network prepared for emergency

C&F Group's main servers are under centralized control in two data centers in each eastern and western Japan with high level of robustness and security. These centers are designed to withstand disaster by adopting seismic isolated structures and installing power supply facilities for emergency.

C&F adopts a fault tolerant server, a dual system for servers to control automated storage and retrieval systems.

As for network systems, C&F prepares for a duplex line by using multiple service providers to reduce the risk of network disturbance and keep operating systems in stable conditions.

In terms of the risk management of cyberattack, security services in the cloud support the prompt detection of e-mail-borne viruses and unauthorized access through the internet.

Ensuring employee safety

C&F conducts emergency evacuation drills and fire-fighting drills regularly with members of fire departments, who assess the drills. They offer advice, as necessary, to guide reviews and improve security policy and procedures.

C&F stores food, water, blanket and portable toilet, etc. to accommodate employees who are unable to return home after disasters.

As for risk management of pandemic, necessities such as N95 masks , goggles, gloves and sanitizer are reserved to prevent infective diseases. Especially for COVID-19, C&F has set up a special task force and formulated and ensured internal rules to reduce the risk of infection cluster, according to guidelines stipulated by government and administration.

Maintenance of facility and equipment

C&F conducts regular maintenance work based on internal strict standards which were established by combining substantial experience and technical information provided by suppliers.

To prepare for mechanical breakdowns, C&F has plenty of spare equipment parts in stock for facilities and in-house engineers based in each facility promptly to cope with any type of trouble.

Other efforts

C&F has concluded agreements on cooperation in case of disasters with local governments to provide storage space for daily necessities. C&F promotes exchanges with local communities and provides volunteer workers for cleanups and beautification activities as a responsible member of society. These activities will lead to preventing disasters and reducing their impact.
